This week, I’ve been working very hard on creating my art prices for my final product presentation. Over the last week, I’ve completed one more piece for my gallery collection. The creative process for my latest piece in particular was a bit of a challenge. I didn’t wait enough time when creating the under price. Therefore, when i was painting on my top layer, the whole piece started to crumble with my palette knife. When this started happening, I felt really disappointed and frustrated that my original idea was unable to be reflected on the canvas. However, as I started to scrape back the layers through the layers using a “sgraffito” technique, I saw potential for a new idea and concept. In order to preserve the layers, I went over the whole canvas with some thick layers of white paint. In the end, the final concept is a play on an endless, blank book or picture frame. Overall, this week taught me that even if my original plan goes astray, there are plenty of ways to save a peice. For the week to come, my goal is to continue finishing my two newest abstracts while also drafting an idea for my large canvas. Overall, I’m hopeful that I will be able to achieve my goal for this week and I’m excited to share my newest pieces when she gets back.
