This Monday, I just finished my second mentor visit at Mrs. Pedrero’s home studio. During this visit, I started a new set of three and started to experiment with a more diverse but restricted palette. I already had an idea of the colors I wanted to use going into it, and I really loved watching my pieces come to life in series. The three piece series that I just created ultimately helped solidify the color palette I want to use for my original work pieces. Mrs. Pedrero and I also continued to discuss the importance of experimentation and composition, as well as new marketing strategies and technological resources. Moreover, Mrs. Pedrero also gave me a run-down of my strengths and weaknesses as an artist, and what I can do to expand on my strengths to find my own voice and style. In regards to my original work, I will be starting my two main pieces by my next mentor visit. I am extremely excited to start my bigger piece after working on smaller paper for a while. My goal by my next mentor visit is to start the underpainting so I can be ready for the compositional elements by next class.
