Calm and Storm

This week in ISM I have had a blast preparing for the showcase. Because of the snow storm, I was unable to varnish my pieces for the exhibition. In order to avoid spitting which would ruin my art piece, the varnish UV archival spray must be used within a certain temperature range. Since it has been freezing all this week, I was unable to go outside to spray the pieces. Overall, I am hopeful that the weather will clear up by the end of this week so I can resume my varnishing process. Moreover, this week, I was able to meet again with Mrs Pedrero in order to show her my recent artworks as well as updates for the exhibition. She and I were also able to discuss her current works and projects as well as different aspects of artistic development and aesthetic. I also began working on a new larger abstract piece inspired by the colors of one of my favorite classic cartoons. During our time together, Mrs Pedrero and I also talked more about the importance of “activating the canvas” and maintaining the integrity of a piece. For the weeks to come, my major goals include finishing the varnishing process for two of my pieces, purchasing clips and wire, finishing my last art statement, and making progress on my latest larger abstract.
